Nutrition Education in One Minute or Less
The cafeteria is one of the busiest rooms at school. Kids are excited to socialize, refuel their bodies, and get on their way. Even amidst this boundless energy, the cafeteria can be a great venue for quick messages about food, nutrition, and the joy that comes from eating well. We're not talking elaborate displays or complicated lessons. We’re talking fast, fun fuel for the mind that promotes healthy choices and enhances your image.
There are a number of methods to channel your messages, including:
-
In the cafeteria. Decorating the walls with colorful posters will add warmth and fun to any cafeteria! Dress up your bulletin board with inexpensive fabric or borders. Offer bite-size samples of your healthiest items, either currently on your menu or in test-mode, and award brave souls with an incentive such as a sticker or other small item.
Feeding your students' bodies and their minds in the cafeteria doesn't have to take long. Try one of the ideas offered above this week and see what kind of feedback you receive.
SchoolFoodserviceXpress.com has a variety of items that can help you add flavor to your serving lines, cafeteria walls and your menu.
In the serving line: Our customized banners will help to dress up your serving lines using your school name and colors. We also have innovative and "edu-taining" nutrition DVDs and PowerPoints.
In the cafeteria: Your students and staff will go nuts for posters in our FoodscapesTM and Superfoods lines. Also be sure to stock up on the “I Tried It!” sticker to encourage students to sample new healthy or ethnic foods.
On the Menu: Our Morph Mania Clipart or Foodscapes Clipart and Templates are easy to use and look great! Don’t miss our promotional kits that deliver fun, effective facts that you can use on your menus as well.
